A Dino Day
Earlier this year, I packed a bag full of pink clothes and stopped at the Cabazon Dinosaurs, a roadside attraction just outside of Palm Springs, CA. Dinny the brontosaurus (pictured) was completed in 1975, and has a gift store in her belly.
I didn’t have much in the way of character ideas, but knew that I wanted her (read: me) to reflect a vintage feel, and mirror some of the texture that is so apparent when you’re up close to the dinosaur. I had scouted the location on my way to a short trip in Palm Springs, and photographed these images on the way back to Los Angeles!
I love roadside attractions, as they add some architectural flavor that now feels hard to find. I hope Dinny is around for years to come!
